Turbo not doing anything

Sometimes my turbo does not provide any performance boost at all.
As if it does not always turn on. Then when it does, wooosh, It's great.

Could this be a vacuum switch issue or something?

Mark

Hey,
The turbo works on pressure not vacuum so that wouldn't be an issue.
check these links here to test your turbo unit:

A search on KKK and Garret will also provide a wealth of information.

thanx

When I get a chance I will see what I can do, if I can find all the parts they talk about in the guide.

Thanks

Mark

There should be a banjo bolt at the rear of the intake manifold. have you ever cleaned it?

Yep, the banjo bolt or maybe a failing over pressure sensor on the intake manifold. Clean both.

If it fails regularly enough, you could try bypassing the overpressure relief valve on the firewall near the brake booster. If this solves your problem, then I'd replace the pressure sensor (assuming you already cleaned the banjo bolt and pressure line on the very back of the intake manifold.

It could also be a sticking waste gate but the above are more likely.

Best Wishes,
Bruce
