Ouch. Looks like you scuffed your right sidewalls on the curb. Nice plate.

nah, no scuff, can slide a sheet of paper between the curb and rubber. dang it - i'll get it closer next time.

the color is thistle green, and i love it too. when i get it repainted (down the road) it will be the same color.

Our 1981 300SD is thistle green as well, it is a nice color, you don't see it too much in our area, kind of like china blue, I saw a 300D coming back from Galveston today that was china blue, it was the only one I ever remember seeing in that color to date.

nice - and with a green interior too? you have any pics? i think i have the ivory.

anywho - now i am inspired to polish it up as much as i can. it's original paint and some of the clear has come off. nice color but not the best luster after being drenched with sun for 6 months and then drenched with rain the other for the last 26 years.

Thumbs up

thanks.

That brake light came from the p/o. seems to be a standard issue aftermarket light.

in fact, i need to fix that... well it works, but it's a little loose. I am glad it is there tho, because our brake lights in their US stock setup are not all that attention grabbing.

Are you going to convert it to unused SVO, or WVO? And if you are going to use SVO and not WVO where will you get the SVO? I think this is the biggest obstacle to conversion for those of us who are considering conversion but don't want to use WVO or deal with collecting and filtering it.

yep - actually pulled some extra sockets last time i was at the bone yard even. was flip flopping between additional brake lights and running lights... that is one mod i look forward too, but didn't deem necessary yet as i have the third brake light.

allthumbs - not sure yet. was sold on wvo two tank system... the more i read the more i am wanting to wait and see. trying to source SVO in bulk isn't as easy as it seems.. time will tell, but i have pretty much convinced my self that i don't want to give up my sparetire well for a second tank. i am currently looking at ways that i can utilize my main tank for the veggie and a much smaller <5 gal for my diesel.

the first priority is to continue to fix the other little things that make it road worthy.. if i can put down the beer for a minute this weekend then glow plugs will get changed tomorrow.

Lofat,
I have a 20 litre HDPE container which I use as a start fuel tank. A friend of mine uses a 20 litre petrol jerry can with a sight tube fitted to brass fittings brazed onto the outside then drilled thru. a small ball valve allows to shutoff fuel if necessary.
I have a piece of W123 fuel line liberated from a spare parts car, and this allows the start fuel to get to the engine bay. (later replaced with cheap garden hose - I use biodiesel start fuel) A holley blue fuel pump sucks the start fuel from the tank and pushes the fuel thru a CAV fuel filter and to the Pollack 6 port valve. The return line is looped on the start tank and I have not had any issues with air, but it would be easy to bleed, given the Holley's fuel flow and pressure specs. The stock tank has not been heated (ambient temps from 0'C - 45'C) and I use "cold filtered" Used Cooking Oil (UCO). This allows a coolant/fuel heat exchanger in the engine bay, just before the fuel prefilter. The stock MB fuel filter is used for UCO and it then goes to the Pollack valve. Return line goes to stock tank when it is the fuel source.
My friend has a strap which positively locates the jerry can. I use an Octupus strap to restrain my HDPE start tank.
