ML 270 cdi loss of power
Since last week my ML270 cdi 2001 93.000Km do not run more than 130 Km/Hr. No warning lights on.
I ckecked the air mass sensor, turbo sensor, air filter, diesel filter, catalitic converter, inyection sistem and everithing works OK. The fuses in the first E-box are OK, but I culd'nt check the fuse of the second E-box because I culd'nt find it. In the cover of the first E-box there is a tape indicating that,"fuse f-24/8, 7,5A, Diesel Engine Control Unit is located under lid of second E-Box". Can somebody tell me where is located the second E-Box??? Of couse is not the one located in the cockpit pasanger side. Can somebody tell me what else to check?? Also , how can I get a Service Manual for this vehicle. The ML 270 has more fails in one year that my 300 TD in 25 years. All the best |
Can you tell me what system is on your CDI? I've only seen two ML270's and only one under the hood, and that was a long time ago. All my experience is with the OM648 engine (CDI3). If your setup is similar to that, I may be able to help troubleshoot it.
Look at the high pressure pump, do you have two sensors on the left side of it? Look also at the fuel rail, is there a sensor at each end of it? If you can, take a picture of your engine and post it, with the covers off. |
Hi Johntread,
Thanks for answering that fast. I don't know about what system are you talking about. the engine type is#612963. I don't know if that number tells you something, there is nothing in the handbook about system. Tomorow I will go under the hood and look on the sensors in the rail and fuel pump, also will ask a friend to take a couple of pictures in order to send it to you. I forgot to say that some times the full power return and the engine develop the full speed, but after a while, without notice or enything that can be related with, the power decrece to more or less 2500 rpm. |
Theres a few sensors that can be causing the problem, all three have the possiblity of robbing power from the engine by sending incorrect data to the engine control module. The one on the high pressure pump is Quantity control valve (small one next to it is the fuel temp sensor). the one at the front of the rail is the rail pressure sensor and the one at the rear is the pressure regulator valve. Your filter could also be partly clogged too. Again, this is all in reference to the 648 engine but I'm guessing theyre similar to the system on your 612 engine.

Hi JOHNHEF,
Wel, finally i got the pictures, which I am sending via private mail. (There are too large for this account) Please let me know if it says something to you. The car performs 2500rpm/130Km/hr besides that everithing I checked is fine. Concerning filters, I changed already, the oil one, gas oil, and air filter. All the best, Argenjagd |
