Feeling like the Matag repairman!

Lately I've been board waiting for something to fix on the 300D, not even a question to ask! Looks like I need to find some other kind of car so I wont get so board!

Maybe I'll replace the hood star with a new shiny one, or something

Any suggestions, recommendations???? Not so BusyBenz........

You can come to New York and work on my 240D. It's a solid rig but it needs a little love.

Or you could try subscribing to Performance Products catalog, which sells all sorts of accessories and stuff for your 123 chassis (can you say CUP HOLDERS?)

Good fun.

Enjoy the rest because before you know it....... Perhaps you have not looked around hard enough either..... Wish that was my current status.... I do not know what to tackle first...... When is the last time you repacked the front wheel bearings and checked the valves?.......It is also very dangerous to post a thread like this because if certain laws still apply the whole car will fall apart in the next few days.....

Once you run out of things to fix on your 87 300D, it's time to start upgrading parts!

1. Interior bits from newer models (leather door panels w/ wood trim is a good start)
2. Suspension, wheels, tires
3. Brakes (4-piston calipers, or go with 500E brakes)

The list can go on forever, but you know what I mean...

Lucky!

I have about 3 major projects I want to do this summer and a few forming for this winter and next spring! As a MB owner I am never without something that needs attention. I need two so I can drive one as I fix the other!

That was my first thought also when I read the opening post. If you are really that lucky, maybe you should head to Vega.

The valves are hydraulic (603) and I just replaced them a month or so ago. The list of replaced parts in this car, 87 300D, is endless from the last two years, also preventative maintenance! I deserve to have a break!

At the moment, and for the first time in a long time, both of my MB cars are in no need for any immediate mechanical repair (knock on wood) just oil changes and turn the key and go! BB

1 - you are my hero - I hope someday to be able to utter such words

2 - On your way to NY stop by my place (Concord, MA) and I can help you keep your mad skills sharp! If you start to yawn with the '85 300D we will move 15 feet to the '67 Landrover....

3 - let sleeping babes lie - Are you poking a tiger with a sharp stick or what????

4 - Nap. Dynamite would say - Luckeeeee!

It's all a matter of degrees. Every day after my loooong commute, I think, "Jeez, what a great car." But if I wanted to I could find any number of things to work on - most very minor.

But the car just doesn't break. If you look up the word "durable" in the dictionary, you should find a picture of a diesel 123 or 126.

When I cant find something to do, I clean stuff that doesnt get cleaned very often. Like in my spare well, pull out the front seats and collect all the change and receipts that fall down there. Maybe give under the hood a good cleaning. Leaves and dirt can hold moisture which can lead to rust.

Just some suggestions.

So, if you look up the word "break" in the dictionary, do you see a picture of a diesel 124?
