K-1 Spring works!

Just finished installing the K-1 spring kit on my 83 300D. The 2-3 shift is now tight and crisp. Now if I could only solve that 4-3 clunk?

Anyways, the K-1 spring kit work solved my 2-3 flare! Easy install and only about $12 at the dealer.

When you do, let me know.

I'm going to guess flex discs or trans mount on mine.

Congratulations Mike.

I drove that vehicle with the 2-3 flare that would come and go for nearly three years.

Glad to see you have finally resolved it.

You must have over 250K on it now??

Brian,

258k!

Now, if I can fix that damn 4-3 clunk-

Just had the rear suspension rebuilt.
-new springs, h-d bilsteins, subframe mounts, diff mount.
What a ride!

That's great.

Any chance the 4-3 could be helped with additional vacuum?

I think that that vehicle might be one of the ones that "typically go in excess of 500K". With three owners that have cared for it well, it certainly has the potential.

I'm struggling with a ride height issue on the SDL. Did everything that you did other than the shocks and it still squats in the back.

Nobody has a clue.

Brian,

I know it needs a rear tranny mount and I haven't checked the flex discs, but assuming the clunk isn't caused by one of those then additional vacuum is exactly what I was thinking. I believe if I raise the vacuum curve at the I.P. bleed off valve it may eliminate the clunk. However, a few years back I replaced the I.P bleed off valve with a new one($120!) and soon after discovered that the replacement doesn't have an adjustable nut under the domed cap part. It only has a crimped on fitting. I can't figure out how to go about adjusting the vacuum curve at this valve? Of course I threw the old valve out!
So, without a way of adjusting the curve I'm not sure how to go about increasing the amount of vacuum the tranny sees? All other vacuum aspects check out perfectly, 23@the booster line, 13-0 curve@ the bleed valve and no leaks as far as I can tell.

Sorry to hear about the suspension issues with the SDL. But, I shouldn't have spoken so soon with praises of the 300D's rear suspension rebuild. Just loaded it up with a few hundred pounds between the trunk and rear seat for a road trip and it squished right down. Unloaded most of the weight and it sits noticeably lower than it did before. Granted the suspension is still firm, but what the hell? Can only guess that the springs suck. I used the Lesjorfers? made in Germany. So, between parts and labor close to a $1000 and the car only looked perfect for a few weeks.
