I blocked the line from the intake manifold to the injection pump to reduce fuel consumption and it didn't work. I got 25 MPG instead of my usual 28-30 mphand less power to boot. The prints on how to make the block off plates to eliminate the ERG valve wereperfect. I made the one for the exhaust manifold out of brass so it folded over neatly. Now I will see how it holds up.
The glow plug help got the car to start without ether. I still have an engine oil leak at the left front of the engine. I am replacing the oil sending unit, Fan clutch and will replace the vacuum pump gasket to see if thatb will end the leak. We resealed the transmission and replaced the front bushing for the torque converter. that ended that leak. Jaggi from Houston was very helpful as he is a ZF transmission specialist. Also I replaced the rear seal of the engine since we were there. Whats left is the blower motor. The guy from Performance Analysis was less than helpful when I wanted to order the blower motor and an oil sending unit. Fortunately ther is conpetition out there. Then there is the cruise control. After that is repaired I will reward myself with a radio as that is missing also. The control arms, tie rod ends, struts, and strut mounts were replaced so it drives beautifully. Now I have to do the rear end since there is nothing wrong with it and go to a taller ratio. I am trying to make a 1987 300TD as nice as my wife's 1997 E330d. She always got the better car but I get all the fun. Thanks for every one's help |
