'85D Ebay Auction...Good or Bad??

Ebay's got an auction (item #4552193126) for a 1985 300D...WITH ONLY 79,900 MILES(??) Let me know if you think this guy's for real since it's only an hour from me. Check out his Q&A's. WHAT DO YOU THINK? RUN, or bid??
Thanks, Harry at nasdow@comcast.net

A little strange that he will not allow the car to ne inspected by locals to be "fair" to everyone......Also, look close at the odometer.....do the digits look a little out of line??
That said, it does appear to be nice and clean...wonder what it looks like under the seat covers??

I ran a carfax on it and got the following result:

Carfax has no records for this vehicle.

Something is up if he will not let people that are interested in purchasing the car through ebay come by and look at the car.
It looks like odo rollback to me. Look at the discoloration on the trip odo. Too bad he did not show a pic of the brake pedal. Also, the engine looks way too dirty for a car that is supposed to have that low a mileage. What about the statement concerning he did not have time to look at the jackpoints - how long does that take?

Wouldn't the discoloration be attributed to age instead of milage? I mean this car is 20 years old now... I doubt there will be painted parts that look LIKE NEW?

Since the car did not meet reserve, let us now if the seller has changed his mind and is willing to show the car to be "fair" to a potential buyer.......

Harry,

DieselFitter posted about this auction in the "E-bay: Alert Thread" over in the Diesel Discussion subforum. That thread is a "sticky" thread near the top of the DD page; this auction was discussed in some of the posts near the end of the thread.

No matter how you cut it, the way the auction was handled was nutty!
