Wanted - 1 amp of 'ignition on' power in engine bay

Greetings as always.................

Without tearing into the underside of the fuse box - Does anyone know where I can safely tap into a 'ignition on' source to grab 1 amp of power to run my DRL's??

I would rather not wire these into the corner lights - I just want them on all the time when the engine is running.

Thank You!!!!!!!!

Stephen

The easiest thing to do is poke around under the hood to find an ignition/run hot wire. Then use this wire to trigger a cheap $3 relay to activate the DRL's. Relays pull @100mah to trigger so there is virtually no threat piggybacking them on any circuit in your car. This way the DRL's have a separate power source run through the relay with no load issues on the original circuits. RT

A source I usually use is the cigarette lighter circuit.

Smooooth, did you ever get the euro headlight wiper system installed? I finally got a full euro setup installed on my car. Thing is though, I think the early 126 take a different lower headlight bracket because the ones that came with my car fall about an inch short of meeting up with the body. Is there just something wrong with my car or are there in fact different 126 brackets. Keep in mind, these are euro brackets that I tried. You can PM me if you'd like.

For power in the engine bay, get a test light and get busy. Start by where you'll want the power up front.

Thanks
David

Where to begin...........

Apology first - Duh... Search before you speak....

I used the Red/Yellow wire down around the EGR valves, etc.... This came from an old post by sixto. I should have searched first...... Lights do look real cool........

In regards to the Euro headlight wipers..... I do have the Euro brackets and just finished assembling 2 motors from a variety of donor parts.... The shafts on the euro motors are longer than the US versions. By how much I can not remember.......... Still need to get the trim panels and wiper arms. The MB dealer here gave me a little bit of attitude regarding 'Grey market' type parts............ I may have to contact carson356 - or anyone else.........

I mean the euro brackets are different from early and late 126's. Regarding buying the brackets, they come with new wiper motors only. I tried to buy just the brackets and the fiche showed it as one piece. I can't remember the part number but the motors cost around $150 I think, so I'll make do with just the 2 bolts holding the lights on for now. I still have the euro brackets under there, but they don't reach far enough back to contact the body. So really, all they're doing is suspending the wiper motors. Make sense?

Thanks
David

This sounds crazy, but I used the ignition computer power supply for the left, and the windshield washer heater power for my right (I don't know if your car is equipped with these heated nozzles). The reason was that I didn't want any wiring criss-crossing the sides of the car. My result is completely hidden.
