Can a ruptured "nose seal" cause Automatic Transmission Failure in an 85 300D?
This is the 2 inch seal that sits between the Torque Convertor rear face and the Front Face of the transmission. I found mine to be ruptured while checking a failed transmission.

If, after the seal started leaking the car was driven and all the fluid was run out of it then yes, it can cause a tranny to go bad.
