Removing Rear glass on w123?
Hey, I got a rust spot on my 83 300d. I need to fix it, but I am unsure how to take this off. I am capable of just "diving in", but I really don't want to mess anything up. The rubber is in GREAT condition, I just need to remove things and get this spot taken care of. Thanks!!

" Seal like fresh rubber".....
The factory shop manual for the chassis gives good instructions for doing this... And gives the Mercedes part number for the SEALANT caulk which they tell to use.... no use just praying that the fresh rubber will seal enough to keep out the water... It is also posted if you do a search... |

Well I should have said "fresh rubber and proper sealant".....and note that silicone is NOT the right thing to use...

Read the manual. And do a search - it has been done
But, having done the W123, you need to carefully pry off the aluminum trim - very carefully. Did I say carefully? It will bend and not sit well when you replace it. Then I would cut the old gasket with a sharp knife to remove the glass. Treat rust. Replace gasket . Replace trim. Replace window. This makes it seem easy but it is not. I have done 5 windows in my life and this was by far the hardest. The glass is thin and curved. Very easy to break. Have a spare at hand.
