'92 300D Fuel Routing
I don't normally post, but prefer to search and look up my answers, but I can't info on this one.
There is a part under my hood that I just don't know what is. The fuel line coming from the tank goes through the prefilter and then into this little gizmo. From there it then goes into the lift pump, filter, etc. The part in question has four hoses coming off of it. One is the fuel line in from tank, one is fuel out to lift pump, the other two I am unsure of what they go to. What is the part and what do the other two lines go to? They look like fuel lines that wrap around the back of the engine and then go into something that looks like an extra injector. Is this some kind of cold start aid? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mark |

I have never seen that engine, but sounds like you are describing the fuel thermostat. When under I believe 30 something degrees, the thermostat allows fuel to flow up to coolant/fuel heat exchanger at the back of the head to warm it. This is to keep it from gelling.
