Air cleaner misadventure
Hello, I am a relatively new owner of a pristine 1979 240D with 260k miles. I decided to change the air filter and in the process sheared off the nut on the top of the air cleaner. For now I have covered the hole on the top with a piece of duct tape. There is a slight toggle to the whole assembly now. Is this normal? The aircleaner still does not lift off. Does this thing rotate as it is removed. Do I have an air leak now? PLease advise.
Thanks, Kevin 1979 240D |

air cleaner
there are clamps that hold it too. yes you will have a leak so cover it with tape is prob ok temporarily. prob this bolt can be replaced after youget the air cleaner off. be sure not to drop anything into the intake of the engine.
