window wiring wondering - 1984 300D
hey there! thanks for opening. My car's had a funny quirk for the last couple of weeks that just quit being funny. My rear passengerside window stuck a couple of weeks ago. My central controller wouldn't put it up or down. Then it started working again, with no explanation why. No door slams or anything - i just waited awhile and tried it again. My drivers window has done that before as well. And while i didn't check the other windows in the aforementioned situation, just the other day that rear p.side window quit working and i did check the other windows and low and behold my driver's side (front) wasn't working either. And then they both started working at the same time! what the ? ? ?
and now, hooray, they've both quit working altogther - why? where are these two windows wired together? i'd tried the door controller on the rear window and it doesn't move it either. any ideas?

cleaner
have you tried elect cleaner in the swithc? it may work and get you dothe road for a while longer. corrosion on the switch contacts can be affected by humidity and such so erattic is normal.

Switches
Removing and cleaning the switches is easy. If you take the switch apart and clean the contacts with a pencil eraser it should clear up the problem. I also have found if you push the wires where they run between the body and the door sometimes things start working although this means that a wire is probably broken.

The two windows share a fuse.
Front Pass and Rear Drivers, Front Drivers and Rear Pass. Perhaps all you need to do is clean the fuse or replace it with a Brass one, getting rid of the tin (they cause corrossion which leads to things not working). Just an observation and a thought. But that switch cleaning thing is very easy,......and worth it just because.
