Come on, oh no, dread, relief!
Picked up my car at long term parking at the airport last night and NO automatic climate control on my '81 300SD.
No fan, no A/C, no nothing. Bummer. Well, it was midnight, drive home with the windows down thinking about how much a rebuilt acc unit is going to cost. This morning open hood, open fuse box, read fuse diagram, check out # 11 fuse....and there is a clear break. Throw in a spare blue fuse and the acc is back in action. Relief

The brushes on the blower motor might be slowly on their way out. A fuse like that does not pop for no reason...

Just goes to show that things cannot always live up to our expectations on these cars. Maybe next time.

Wow...that's great news Anders.....kind of like my experience....
On my way from Austin to Hillsboro for a business meeting. I get to the northside of Austin and lose the speedometer, fuel, oil pressure, tach, etc. Dang fuses...they just have no class sometimes...

Together with the POS aircleaner mount on the turbo'd 617 and the lack of a voltmeter on these cars, I say that the poor choice of fuses is definitely high on my list of MBZ pet peeves. With fleet I have, barely a month passes when one of the cars hasn't dumped a fuse for no good reason.
However, on the bright side it gives you minor hero status to be returning from OKC in the heat of summer, have the a/c give up in Mineral Wells and actually be able to fix it (a pooped-out fuse) while waiting for burgers at the Sonic. Glad it was something simple for you too.
