what happened to my AC????

i was checking the exhaust temp with my new laser temp gauge ($49 at Checker) and letting the AC cool the car off. then the fan just quit and won't come back on. fuse looks good. i think the AC compressor will come on cause i can feel it when selecting defrost. but it won't blow air in any position. again, all the fuses look good.
what the ....

thanks Tommy.
did you ever get yours right? it cools now in the daytime?
i'm thinking i'll remove the fuses one by one and clean the contact areas and put new fuses. that seems to be a service that is recommended but i haven't done. on my system the fan just doesn't come on. it wasn't working too well anyway but at least it would cool me off some.
can't imagine being in SC without AC. i grew up? in IL without it.

Try turning the key towards the "off" position slightly while the car is running and ACC is on - the voltage to run the ACC is related to the ignition switch. One of my cars does that - I just turn the key back slightly and all is well.

tenK, maybe that's what happened cause i was out working on it and had acually hooked up a bypass wire to run the fan when i realized the fan was now working "normally". don't know why but the key is as good an explanation as any. i do remember trying that yesterday but maybe i didn't get right.
another question though... why does the fan "go faster" on defrost than on autohigh? is this only mine????

found the problem... there is something near the fan that is hitting it when the AC compressor switch is on. i had the fan and motor out and it it ok. when it's in there is something stopping it when i turn on the compressor switch. makes a bad noise. guess i'll pull it out again today and see if there is a air door in there that has come loose.
