An oddity here. Note that one of the head lights is not EURO, but USA instead. Cloth seats too!

In your list, the transmission says it's a 717.xxx in one place.. then automatic in another??

I too am curious about this car.
I was under the impression that MB never put a stick in a turbo diesel, as he claims it is. And the obvious "12" in the VIN where a manny would be designated "10". Conversion? Would make it even more rare. My ideal diesel if the switcher-o was done professionally. (OK, it needs leather and a few other touches, but I always loved silver on blue, my first mb (a 69 coupe) was that color combo.)

it would be a sweet driving car with excellent economy. iwould want to be sure it has ac though. they are about saleproof wo it. also the condition does not warrent a very high price. i wouldnt be afraid of it i would just be careful how much i paid.

Hmm... that car is probably very close by. I wonder why he didn't show a picture of the engine to prove that it has a turbo or not. The seller has a feedback rating of 1 and being in LA.....highly suspect.

Could the transmission and pedals be yanked and put into a 87 300D Turbo? That would be a nice conversion.

turbo?

prob not turbo. pedal cluster almost for certain would switch out. imho
