I have a 1980 240d with 70,000 original miles. When I drive up the slightest incline the car drops 15 MPH.
Last night it started to happen than I was force to pull over to the side of the road. The car whould not stay running. the incline that started the problem normally would not even be felt. I waited 5-10 minutes started up and the car drove fine home. Please help, The temperature was 45degrees outside and the engine temp was normal. The car has a large fuel water separater. Could thie be fuel pump problems? My battery is also a little weak, could this effect this? Thanks in advance for your help. Regards, Chris Patko |

It sounds like you need to replace the fuel filters ... especially since you said that after shutting it down for 5-10 minutes it ran fine.

Thanks to this Web site I am back on the road.
The large Luber-Finer Water separator filter was very dirty. I changed it and all is well. Thanks again. I now can hit 85 MPH. |
