Bumper Shocks for 300TD - Same as sedan?

Hi,

My poor '82 300TD was recently in a small accident. Fortunately it was not my girlfriend's fault (she was driving), but the fault of someone driving an HP company car. After a little hassle, they paid out 2100$ to fix the damage. Of course, I'm trying to fix it cheaper.

The damage is to the rear end only. The bumper was rolled under a bit, which bent both bumper shocks, and destroyed the plastic impact strip. The bumper bar itself is probably straight (though I'll find out for sure when I remove it). Both backup lenses are broken. It doesn't look like the frame of the car was damaged in any way, the bumper absorbers seemed to do their job. All told, the car escaped pretty well, and kept my gf safe. We messed up the minivan that hit us though.

My question is this.. I've sourced a good impact strip, which seems to be the same part for both the sedans and the wagons. However, are the impact absorbers the same for sedans and wagons as well? If so, that would make my life much simpler!

Also, are there any other parts I will likely need? Are there intermediate parts between the bumper shocks and the bumper that will need replacing? Are there special retainer clips needed for the impact strips?

Thanks!
Sam

shocking

i dont know for absolute certain but for 98% certain the shocks are the same. have you crawled under and looked at the back? in my experience i would expect the shocks to be undamaged but the bumper to be broken loose from them or the aluminum ears broken off.
