1985 190D....2.2L 4cyl, or 2.5L 5cyl ???

I'm looking at an automatic '85 190D. I know MB made a 2.5L 5 cyl that year, but this one I'm checking out says 2.2 L on the trunk and the owner says the motor's been replaced with a "lower mileage" motor. It's a 4 cyl (now) and the car has over 250,000 miles on the odometer. Did MB make both the 2.2L and the 2.5L (non-turbos) as options in 1985? Could this be an '84 or older model? The price is decent and the rest of the car seems OK. Does anyone know of any troubles related to the '85 2.2L 190D (if that's what it truly is)? Can I get a CARFAX on it to me at nasdow@comcast.net, please? The VIN# is WDBDB22C8FF048817.
(P.S. Can I be a pest and request two other non-related Carfaxes if you've got the time? Thanks. #3vwsp69m73m152224 ['03 Jetta TDI], and #wdbeb31e0sc199952 ['95 E300D]. Anyone know of why I shouldn't consider either of these two? Bad repair history, money pit, most stolen, etc, anything?? Thanks for your help, maybe I'll finally get a diesel after all.)

I had a 1984 2.2L. It was awesome. Somewhat faster than a 240D, but still slow. I would get about 40mpg with it. The car would go about 70mph with no problem. At 170,000 miles it did not burn a drop of oil. In addition to the motor, have everything checked. The small repairs on these will add up. Plus parts are getting harder to come by.

The 190D 2.5 wasn't offered in the US until 1986.

From the VIN it has a 621.921 2.2l engine, light ivory paint, saffron MBtex interior, sunroof, heater mirrors, Calif emissions.
