Got a couple of emergency triangles

Was browsing the local salvage yard, and came up with 3 nice emergency triangles. Not the cheesey ones, the nice all fiberglass ones. I also snagged a triangle mount for the trunk of a 123. Since I already have one in my 126, and don't own a 123, I of course thought of you guys. They are available for cost plus shipping. I paid 10 bucks each for them. If nobody wants them, oh well.

What are those things for, anyways? I've heard about them and how hard to find they are, are they standard equipment or what?

I do believe they would fit a 190D, the trunk should be set up to accept one, but I don't have the mounting bracket that holds the top in. The reason they are so rare is that, to my knowledge, they only came standard on European models. Not sure if they were even an option on US or european delivery cars. Usually they are found on actual european cars that were imported, as driving laws over there require them. Personally I like them for the safety factor, plus it's kind of a nice finishing touch on a well restored car.
Soo.. I have two left.

It came with my car....

I believe they might of been an option with the US model cars. I have a 1983 300D, and it has one in the trunk (mounted on the back of the lid). I would have to check the window sticker to see if it was an option, but I am pretty sure it was standard equipment.

Yeah I'm not sure, I've only seen a few other cars ever with them. Could have been an upopular option in the states.

So they go on the inside of your trunk lid and are for putting on when your car is pulled over on the side of the road or something? They don't go on your rear end all the time, do they?

Exactly... they are for when you are pulled over to the side of the road (have you ever seen semi's broken down on the side of the road? They also use a set of hazard triangles).... or lets say if you are broken down in a middle lane, say at an intersection, I'd probably put it out behind the car a little bit... especially at night. Haven't had to use mine ever, but my friends all think it is neat.
