Kinda OT: Anyone ever had this happen before?

I looked at purchasing a 84 300D Euro about a year or two ago. After a PPI, it was found that there were some a/c problems and the transmission was about to need a rebuild. So, I decided to pass on it. Well, today, I saw that car again, except now, it was dirty, had a dent on it, and was sitting at a used car lot. It's been there for a good while now, I guess it clonked out on someone or something, it looked to be in sad condition just sitting there. Kind of funny seeing that car as I passed it in my nice 82 300D. Anyone else ever had an experience like this?

just the opposite, guy had a nice 420 84 SEL and wanted more than I wanted to spend, I think he wanted 4K. IT had some issues but not many, anyway saw it on the lot the other night, stopped in and the dealer has it at $5,500.
Amazing that a wax job is worth over 1K!

Long, long ago, on a planet far, far away, I had one of these:

It was in perfect shape and I had a cache of spares to keep it running. I knew it inside and out and loved that weird little car. One time I got tight for dollars and sold it for $900 to a long-haired freaky guy who promptly dropped a piece of lumber or something across the back window, smashing the roof, rear glass and trunk lid. The worse part was, the dude lived fairly close to me and I'd see my poor little beaten Honda 600 about 3-4 times a month. :(

when i was shopping i saw a turbo 300 that said 2900 on the window, it looked ok. plain grey paint, bundt wheels, just looked plain. blue interior with a non cracked dashboard! but it had 180k i was looking kind of hard, these little cars are sort of hard to find here, so i stopped. he wanted 4500, 2900 down, a years payments.

down the road i found shlomo, he was a trade-in at the ford store and ill bet they knew nothing about the lil guy. i got shlomo for a bit less than the down payment on that 300, with 129k.

that 300 is still sitting there waiting for its dash to crack in the hot alabama sun... meanwhile ive driven mr shlomo daily for 6 months, not bad, eh?

That's why I refuse to sell a vehicle locally. The last one I sold went all the way to Wolfpoint Montana. It was a 68 Olds Delmont 88 with a 455 under the hood. Loved the car but couldn't afford the gas. I try not to think about her.

Never had the experience that H-town is talking about, but I did trade 2 vehicles needing tranny work for a van.

3 weeks later I saw the one, at a 7 eleven with about 7 guys in it, getting beer (I almost gave them the extra set of keys I had found). Never seen it again. I don't think it lasted too well.

About a month later I saw the second, the new owner had cracked the plastic nose. I saw it actually drive through my neighborhood about 5 times. Haven't seen it in over 8 months.
