240 D leaking in strange place...

I just got my 240D last Friday, and Thursday was the first big rain since then. There was no leaking in the sunroof, any of the 4 doors, either windscreen or any of the glass, the leak happened from under the glove box!! I got in my car Thursday morning to go to work and it was raining like mad. I look over and there's water dripping from directly above the floorboard on the passenger side. I don't know what could possibly be leaking.

Has this ever happened to any of you???

My first guess would be a hole in the firewall underneath the battery.

But you could also be leaking because the drains under the hood support springs are blocked by debris.

also could

be the fresh air duct/ tub under the top of the hood air intake. you sound sure it is not the windshield but are you?

I am having the same leak in that same area, 240D 77. Mine started right after a major bidy work converting the 240D to a normal car from a rust buckett. A lot of work was done in the battery area where a leaky Sears battery ate the battery pan and did considerable damage to the surrondings.
The windshield was replaced alog with its gasket. I do not know where the leak is but I am going to remove the battery and apply sealants to all penetrations on the firewall. If this does not stop the problem the next area is the hood spring area. this area typically gets lot of trash. The last area to check is the air intake on that side.
For now I have a sheet of plastic on the floor with a stack of newspaper to absorb the water before it gets to the carpet.
