Question Sunroof stuck open

My sunroof quit working in my 84 300D while it is fully open. It didn't work this morning when it was closed, but then I tried it about an hour later and it opened fine, but then of course it quit working again. It might be a bad wire connection, but I pulled the switch and everything looks fine. Can I get to the motor with the sunroof fully opened? Thanks,
Andy

If the 123 is the same as the 126 then the Sunroof motor is mounted in the trunk. On my SDL it is on the LH side behind the rear wheel arch. There is a special fitting that allows you to crank the sunroof closed manually. It uses a special tool but you can probably find something that will work in it.

Good luck.

No, no special tool. 17mm socket IIRC, at least that's what I used for mine and I can't imagine it to be a whole lot different than an '84. You may have to pull the trunk liner to get to it though.
All I had to do to mine when it was stuck was break it free using the emergency cranker in the trunk, and after that it motored on open using the switch. A good idea would be to clean the rails thoroughly with an acid brush and carb cleaner, then lube them with MB sunroof grease ONLY. Only the MB stuff will do.

Thanks for the help, although after reading the owners manual, I discovered the manual crank in the trunk. I think I will order some MB grease. Thanks again.
BTW, my sunroof started working again, I think I need to test the switch.
