I like my used cars shiny anyway...

The article says:
The nation's highways are packed with wonderful new cars and trucks that are purchased by people who seem rich and happy. But, in fact, many are deep over their heads in debt.

Seriously I like my used cars neat and well maintained without rust and safety defects and dents or broken parts...if I could paint them myself I would....I would also go the xtra mile to fix dash bulbs and upholstery and electrical snarls...
but to buy a $35,000 brand new car? With that interest I guess and all those funny charges mebbe you are paying 50K?

Negative equity is a big part of what drives cash rebates on new cars. The rebate is necessary to retire (or mostly retire) the old loan so the buyer can qualify for the new loan.

I'm loving

my 20 year old MB diesel that I own outright. Yeah, it's going to require maintenance and service but I think it's the way to go!

I have no plans to get rid of any of the cars we now own,,, and I do mean own. Have been getting the TE back to pristine condition little by little and painted the 400 last year. The SL needs nothing and the more I drive these cars, the more I love them.
