Center console switch holding panel - PO

just yanked it up, breaking off hold down tabs(search function taught me the proper method-thanks folks). It is Zebra finish. Any way to replace it other than bone yard? I have two of the broken off tabs and will try ABS/all purpose cement(for plastic pipe) on them. This panel looks to be wood from the top but it seems to be aluminum from underneath. Is it wood veneer glued on - or photography finish?

The panel is zebrano wood (very expensive) veneer applied to aluminum backing. The reason it is done this way is because wood itself expands greatly with changes in humidity and temperature. The aluminum backing, without this problem, provides a stable structure for the veneer. If it was only a wood to veneer bond, that veneer would separate in short order.

Thanx for the info, SD Blue. My SD(title) indicates it

is an '81. On the under side of this panel, stamped in white, is: R&W 7.9.82.

The broken tabs are glued on but I will be surprised if they hold. I may be able to find someone to plastic weld them for me if they do not.

If your wood is in good condition I would just use a good epoxy for the broken tabs. You may find a good piece of wood on ebay, but it took me a long time to locate one...
