Price for a 190D?
came across a clean black 87 190d with about 250k on the clock.
Seems to run and drive ok and had some recent trans work done. whats the price range I should be in for this. Are the heads the big problem on these. The owner said he has had on problems with his. Anything special to watch out for? thanks Last edited by bennett; 07-17-2005 at 04:13 PM. |

The OM602 is not known for head issues although I have heard of some people replacing head gaskets on these engines. I have approximately 300K miles of direct ownership experience on these engines (turbo and non turbo versions) and I've never had the head off any of my cars. The six cylinder version of this engine (OM603) does have a reputation for head issues.
It's hard to give specific advice on prices for a nearly 20 year old car with 250k on the clock - it all depends on condition. I would not pay more than $1500 for a rough 190D, maybe 3-5K for an average one and maybe 8K for a low-mileage creampuff. Is your 87 a turbo? These are more rare and are a bit more desirable. |
