300D Steering Wheel middle part

My 85 300D, the steering wheel, the part where you press the horn... one side is lose and now it leaves a big gap. I can't find any screws on the back to tighten the pad. What should I do?

did you remove the pad and look inside? there are some screws inder the pad itself that come loose.

How exactly do you remove the pad without ripping it off by force? I don't see any screws.

pull it gently from the edges, and work your way around

Does the middle star have to be pulled out or it can stay there?

It stays there. Basically you just grab one corner and slowly tear it off. Even after many years they are supple and pliable. Just had to do this.

I'm curious though. After you pull it out, how is it supposed to go back in? By the way, I pulled one of the spring off by accident. It should just go right back in?

It pops back into place almost easier than it comes off. If you found a spring there are 4 springs on 4 screws behind the plate that the rubber part pulls off of. You will see what is going on when you pull if off.
