300SD has starting issues
My dad is out of town, and I was supposed to use the 300SD to get some things done to it at the shop. well, I had to come back home for a few mins, and when I went back out to the car, I could not get it to start. I did the usual, I put the shifter in both neutral AND park before each time I tried to start it, no starting. The car has been doing this for a good long while now, and then I remembered what he told me to do if I was ever driving it and that would happen. The mechanic gave him a piece of wire, and told him when it wouldn't start, to put the key into the preglow position, to open the hood, and touch these two outside screws in a row of four located in a plastic rectangular box on the passenger's side with the wire, and the car would start. Well, I don't like doing that, it seems dangerous, and I need to know what the real problem is. I'm thinking it's the starter, but for all I know, it could be something cheap.
Thanks,
-Joe
