1. 61 220 stick (in europe) black/ gray
2. 62 190c ivory/ navy (drove for three years put 70,000 on it. bought for 500 collected
700 or so in insurance for people crashing into me but never fixed it and sold it for 300. prob best deal ever for cheap ownership.
3. 61 220b (parts car)
(ten year or so gap owning 66corvair, 75 opel sportwagen, 80 datsun wagon, 74 saab 99, 80 saab 99, 74 bmw bavaria.)
4. 72 220d stick baby blue/ black
4. 75 300d auto baby blue/ black
5. 79 240d stick. maroon/ tan
6. 83 300dt brown/ ivory
7. 82 300td cream/ tan
8. 83 240d stick cream/tan
9. 83 240d stick maple yellow/
10. 84 280e 5 speed white/tan. former pro ralley car euro spec. quick. 3.69 gear ratio. had skid plate under motor which i discarded (i regret now). it had been scraped of all undercoating to lighten it for the ralley. i sold it when my son reached driving age and have had regrets. recently bought it back in very poor condition and plan to make it into a historic racer when i can afford to spend the $.
11. 90 300e, 2.6 auto. 72k miles. red/tan. this is one i should have kept.
12. 91 300d turbo white/tan
13. 79 240d stick maroon/tan. bought with front pushed over, did crude repairs myself made it roadworthy and put my son in it. he wrecked the fron again. we pushed it back again and put it back on the road.
14. 82 240d auto white/tan. bought with blown motor and put the motor and tranny from #13 into it. then it was hit in back, fixed and it looked so good i sold it for a profit, i think.
15. 82 240d stick china blue/tan. this one was pretty nice when i bought it. it was rear ended fixed and put back in service, til it got unreliable because of some obscure fuel problem related either to fungus or being filled with a 50% water mix in sub zero weather.
16. 83 300dt cream/tan. bought as a repo from a bank fixed up and sold for a small profit. of course a month later the engine on my 300td crapped and i could have saved more by using this motor.
17. 83 240d auto. bought this one from tx with blown motor and put 300 na euro stick drive train in it. with rebuild on engine while at it.
18. 83 300d stick euro. organ donor ,see above.
19. 84 500sec. 2nd owner. ist owner put on 80k in 18 years, i have put on 50k in three years. nice clean car with seriously cold air.(first benz with that)
20. 82 240d stick cream/tan bought from va nice clean bod. #2 daughter bought if from me when she grad from col. then ran it for four months wo checking or changine oil and blew a rod. i bought it back and have rebuilt motor.
21. 82 300cd bought from tx. rebuilt motor. rust free. needs paint, interior leather dry.
22. 90 350sdl bought with thought to be bad head gasket. have done head job tires shocks front end. nice body and interior. great car when it is not in shop. keep hoping that this is last repair.
23. 83 300td bought from a friend who needed to get rid of it. sold for a small profit and split it with him.
24. 67 200d stick. rusty. bought for 200 and traded for trash removal (dont ask it is too complicated for words).
well that is the list. i may have forgotten one or two. benzes i have not yet owned but want to: pagoda roof sl, 108 euro six with fiver, a cabrio, a 170d, a 500e (93or 94).
25. i bought the 280e euro again and have it.
so you see this is why i dont list them at the bottom like some. this streches from 1973 to present.
16. btw i still own 25., 22, 21, 19, 20. (need to sell two of them)
i hate to think of all the money i have spent on them. but almost all of it was worth it.

i had a 74 240d auto that had a blown motor from cal. clean clean clean. rebuilt the motor detailed the motor compartment painted it etc etc. was to have been my wifes car but when done she found it too slow so i had my daughers drive it. my lovely #3 daughter filled it up one day with gas in ohio and proceeded to drive it back to lafayette ind. (four hour drive) she made it to richmond in (about two hr). when it wouldnt go anymore. cracked head, scored cyl, on a brand new motor. so i bought a 76 300d euro (i think since it had cloth seats) with rough body and interior and put the drive train in the 240d. so that makes 25 and 26 if you only count the 280e as one.

i also had an 81 280e that i bought cheap with an obscure problem, spent $2000 fixing and sold for a loss and a 79 280e that i bought with a blown rod and just took parts off and junked. what is that 26 and 27? so i just miss having 30. just wait.

1981 300SD since 4/25/05
silver/black leather. Not MBtex. 15 hole wheels, DOT flush headlights, clear corners, MP3 stereo with amp and subwoofers, 231k miles, runs like a top. My baby... the favorite of the 19 autos I have owned!

1986 420SEL since 7/3/05
Blue/blue. Parting out, it jumped a timing chain while I was sitting in it. Customer said his wife hated the car anyway and sold it cheap.
What's funny is: I drove this very car about 18 months ago. I had never driven a 126 before, thought, "this is the car for me" and sighed at the approx $4000 it was worth. Thought I 'd get one someday. Little did I know...

Favorite for me was the 1963 190c Fintail gasoline Benz.... am convinced the economy models are BETTER cars than the deluxe editions.

Rarely if ever owning more than one at a time, am thinking a pre-73 115 chassis 220D 4-spd will be my next purchase. I cant imagine ever owning one newer than the w123 series. And there will *always* be w123 240D and 300D's on the road - probably racking up more miles than any other product MB has ever built.

i have always been attracted to simplicity. my old 220d was nice. the 123 240s are also sweet. easiest with crank windows etc. only weak spot is the weak ac, really.

i thought of another one. i had a second 83 240d maple yellow with tan stick which i bought fixed up and sold to my son. that makes 29. still thinking.

1982 300TD. White, auto, Stage 1 basic tuning/mods.
1980 240D. Puke yellow, 4-speed.

One shall live, one shall die. Soon.

Sometime before September 1st is my goal for the 240D to be completed and the 300TD to be salvager food.

27. I bought number 17 back, got it repaired and ran it for a few years then sold it along.
28. 82 240 d bought from the Don and am still restoring it.
29 83 300TD bought from RLeo here. Ended up not fixing it up but parted it out. The motor and lovely five speed live on in my 39 Studebaker pickup. The lovely leather front seats are in the car #28. The body shell went to a fellow in Colombus IN who is putting the drive train in it from his first benz.
30. 95 e300D bought from Chicago....have decided to use as a parts car. The engine and tranny are perfect in it.
31. 95 E 300 D bought from Jim Freeh here. Am still driving it.
32. 74 240D automatic gray
33. 81 290E silver blue
34. 79 280e silver
35. 76 300D gray for the motor to repair the 74.
32. I am thinking of something newer....a cabrio? never had one....an SLK? perhaps. a newer diesel? perhaps.
36... you see this is why i dont list them at the bottom like some. this streches from 1973 to present.

i hate to think of all the money i have spent on them. but almost all of it was worth it.
