Talking Back from weekend trip around Lake Michigan

My dad, mom, brother, and I left friday morning for Oshkosh, WI to see our german cousin who was in the states with the company he is with for the EEA Air Show there. We drove the longer way, up through michigan, across the UP, down into wisconsin, then to our campground 100 miles outside of oshkosh. So we had a 200 mile commute saturday to and from the campground to the air show. We went to the show saturday, its the largest air show in the world....and it was AMAZING. I saw tons of flights by everything from a 1930's dogfight WWI plane to tons of WWII American, German, and Japaneese fighter planes, the huge Bombers and then they showed the jets, and finally a demonstration of a Harrier Jet doing its hovering and landing/takeoff, truly amazing, and LOUD. Also I was able to see Steve Fossett take off in the Virgin-Atlantic Global Flyer and he did some demonstration passes, that thing is nuts, it can carry 7x its own weight....and its nearly silent! Then SpaceShipOne took off, and that was also extremely amazing, especially since after today (sunday) it is being moved to the Air Space Museum in DC, which is where I was 2 months ago. Later on they had some acrobatic flights and other things going on, it was amazing.

We left around 5:40pm from the show, drove 105 miles back to the campground, decided we didn't want to stay there another night, packed, left, and headed home.....sat in a middle of the night traffic jam in Chicago for almost an hour, then drove the rest of the way home without further delay. Total distance: around 1350 miles, Fuel Economy: avg of 29.3mpg My car performed flawlessly We used it as my dad's is still awaiting its rear-window to be reinstalled soon. Very exciting weekend trip.

**More rust-project pictures and updates coming soon in the Rear-Window Rust thread**

We saw a 126 (don't know if its diesel) for sale in a small town between Oshkosh and Lyndon Station, WI if anyone is around there....

On the chicago freeway we were cruising along at about 70 when all the sudden a 123 300D goes flying past us on the left in the dark (this was about 2am), it was really moving, was that anyone on here??
