300SD A/C charging Question

I,ve got an 1980 300sd. I bought an adapter kit to charge it with R12A. However, none of the adapters will fit the low-side port. It appears to be a 7/16" flare with a schraeder valve in it. As I peruse my manual it calls for a line connection adapter 7/16" to 1/4". Any idea on a source for an adapter or a work-around? It appears that I could remove the fitting and replace it with 1/4"
but I'm just a little shy on refrigerant and don't want to have to do a full service. Neither of my other 300SD's (both 5-8 months newer) have this large
fitting.
Thanks..

hello

you dont need an adapter to charge a 300sd with r12 all the
300 sd's came as r12 cars.... what year is your 300sd i think they stopped making 300sd's by the time r14 came out...

here is what happend to me... i have a 300sd and i bought the adapter for r14 from ebay and the guy sent me 2 of the same adapter just labled one high and one low and that was why i could not convert to r14.... If your talking about r14 that is probably what is happening... there are two different size addapters that screw over the old r12 adapters that you use to convert it with...

explain your situation a little more.

read a little

i have read a little about r12a and you may have to do some rigging...

i put freeze 12 in my 300sd and i used the old fashion r12 connection and i was able to get it to work.... you have to get an r12 hose rig from that point.

You guys might want to get your refrigerant designations in order ..
It's R-12 or 134A.
