79 240D water pump
 

How much should I expect to pay to have the water pump replaced, including the parts on a 79 240D? The car has 110K and is in decent condition. It is on the island of Maui, and I am trying to decide if I should ship it home to Phoenix at a cost of $1000, after getting the water pump replaced. I also own a very nice 79 300CD that is in Phoenix. I am considering giving the 240D to charity on Maui, or shipping it to Phoenix to sell it on EBAY. Whats it worth? Suggestions???

the water pump on a 79 is a one to two hour job to replace. the pump is easy to find and will cost from 35 to 70 dollars for the part depending on what brand and where you buy it. most places in the us for an independant mechanic you will pay from 50 to 80 dollars per hour.

as to the value of the car, that depends on the condition of it. that is very low miles, and if you can document it it will be a plus. the value is from 2500 to 5500 for one with sound mechanicals with the value depending on the cosmetic condition of the interior and exterior.

i have owned about 6 or 8 240d's. they are fine cars and there is a market for them.
