Yipee!! Great E-Bay R-12 Score!

I Just got 15 pounds for $158.10. That's $10.54 a pound. That's even .66 cents an ounce!

I'm happy!

Oh yeah, shipping is a whooping $15.36. So the total hit is $173.46 (actually $11.56 a pound and .72 cents an ounce).

I forgot the $1.20 for shipping insurance - I'll do the math later.

That license is really paying off! I have mine here too, I'm going to wait until it's cooler out to pick it up... by that time it should have cleared out all the people that just "have" to have it.

Smart thinking, but I just had to have it. I've got the Mercedes blowing cool air, so next I'll work on the VW Cabriolet just for the fun of it. That should increase its value enough that it might be worth selling it - so I can pay for all the R-12 I'm going to buy.

I drove the SD mainly at night and a few times during the day so the summer wasn't too hardcore. I amassed most of the AC bits in the offseason also, the compressor I scored back in Feb!

Now all you have to do is hope that it is really R12 . I know of a cpl of people that got burned with what they call drainage R12.

That's my question, as well.

On e-pray, there is no way to determine what you receive. They could send you water inside that container, and, if it had a bit of R-12 mixed in, it would pass the test.

I'm only guessing here, but I suspect that "drainage" R12 is R12 that has been drained from a system. While it could be nearly pure, it's difficult to tell without a purity tester.- and even a quality purity tester has its limits.

I thought that might be the case. So if I found some in the smaller cans this should not be a concern.

Now you tell me.

I'll check it out as soon as it arrives, but I kind of doubt it will be a problem. Just in case there is a problem - seller beware

Definitely let us know.

15 lbs. is the perfect size to have for a few years. The 30 lb. container is a bit ridiculous for most of us.

Drainage R12= R12 that has been drained from a systems which sometimes has been contaminated with who knows what 15Lbs could be from several systems.I wouldn't put anything in my cars that didn't come in sealed containers. Sometimes cheap becomes expensive.
