I'm getting ready to replace the valve cover gasket on my '83 240D is there anything I need to know other than to torque the bolts to 7ft-lbs?

The mistake I frequently make is carelessly allowing the valve cover to bump against the injector return hoses during re-installation. I have accidentally created leaks that way a couple of times.

Don't waste a perfectly good gasket. Adjust your valves while the cover is off.
