Thumbs up Diesel fuel... go bad over time?

My SDL sat just over one year before I purchased it here and consequently the fuel in there is of the same age also. There's around 1/3 tank remaining in there and I'm not sure if I should mix it with new or try to drive around with that old stuff.

What do ya guys have to say?

put in some injector cleaner

add some fungicide fill it up and fire it up. actually if it was me i prob would just fire it up and look at the filters. if there is fungi there will be black dots in the first filter.

I say add good fuel to that and use it ...
When I sold my 81 wagon it sat for 18 months... they guy that bought it simply put a good battery in and it started within 2 seconds.... he was not surprised... but I was...
Now regular gasoline would be different...

yeah

i found a full fuel oil storage tank in the basement of my building that held 2500 gallons. i estimate that it sat for 40 years. i used a tank in my 350 sdl with no ill effects and then sold it all to a freind who has heavy equipment. he burned it all in a week or two and had no problem.

this is the short version of this story.

Looks like I'll add some fresh to it and run it!

I have a similar story. When I bought my place there were two 55 gallon drums of diesel in the barn. The guy who I got the place from had been ill for a long time, so the fuel had been there a few years when I moved here.

After a couple more years went by I decided, what the heck. I pumped some in my tractor. It looked good, smelled okay and after running a few tanks through the tractor, I burned most of the rest of it in my 240D.

I also would just run with it and keep an eye on the prefilter.

Good luck,
