power windows and tdts need a quick primer

been looking at cars and reading the ebay ads.

why is it that windows on the diagonal are not working?
you know, the right front and left rear.
is it a fuse thing or a vaccuum thing?

2nd quest

on the tdt i have seen cars with no struts on the sides and broom handles holding them up. were the struts in the roof?

The windows are electric, not vacuum. The diagnal windows are powered from the same fuse, so the best case is a fuse problem. There may also be another problem with one of the windows or the wiring that caused the fuse to blow.

For the 1st question:
Yes, more than likely a fuse. Same fuse for L-front and R-rear. Also, R-front and L-rear.

For the 2nd question:
I am not sure what you are talking about. Mistyped? Are you talking about the 300TD?

The TD struts for the rear tailgate are located in the body roof under the rear speaker body molding.
They are mounted with a base screw and then to the arms of the hatch. Dropping the speaker unit and then you pull back a corner of the headliner to access the base mount bolt. The other side of the strut is attached to the hatch by a clevis pin and locking washer.
