Blue stuff in vac repair kit ??

My 1980 300 TD developed severe symptoms of vacuum failure (no brake boost, no door locking, no shut-off, funny shifting) so I got a repair kit from Fastlane. It took a long time to get here - a little over 24 hours - but I'm not complaining... Two things are puzzling me. There's a small tube of some blue fluid, just a few drops. It doesn't seem like Loctite, more like a lubricant or cleaner. What is this for ? The other thing is that the new diaphragm is a little different from the old, so I'm not sure which way it faces. The new one is dished a little. Does the convex side face forward or toward the engine ?
Thanks for any ideas. Steve

No instructions came with it ?
Have you checked the Skinnerbox online manual site to see what they say about it ?
Have you searched the archives to see if this has already been explained ?

Thanks for the suggestions, Greg. No instructions came with the kit. I finally did find a reference in the archives to blue Loctite. I'm not that familiar with using Loctite. This stuff seemed more oily in nature. Anyway, I put some on the screw after cleaning the hole with solvent, and assembled the pump. The vacuum system works as before. Either I got the diaphragm in the correct orientation or it doesn't matter too much, at least in the short term. Ask me after the next 100,000 miles. Ha ha. Steve

I think I have posted pictures of TCane applying that blue locktite to my vacuum when he was showing me and TxBill how to replace it... I had split my finger minutes earlier so he did it instead of just supervising me...
I would have said it was blue locktite... except you sounded SO SURE it was not... so I did not want to offend you by suggesting it might be that..
There are two types of pumps... the one I have needs to be set in a particular position before being bolted back together... I know this stuff is in the archives.... by people who have done it themselves...
