Is there anyone that knows off hand where the three wires that connect to the back of my alternator run to? My 69 220d is not charging the battery. I am going to take the alternator out to get it checked as soon as the shop opens. I'm also waiting for the library to open so I can look at the wiring diagram for my car(i don't have a repair manual for my 220d yet) I believe the previous owner "re-wired" the alternator. I know the threaded post is a ground, and one side of the two pronged connector goes to the dash light, but the other wire is not hooked up at all. They just folded it up. I would appreciate any help. thanks, andy

I found a problem when I took the alternator out. The previous owner messed with the wiring so he could put a GM alternator in. He didn't even have a voltage regulator hooked up. That's why I couldn't find it. So, I have to find an alternator for my car. Since there is not a voltage regulator I'm assuming that the Mercedes unit had a internal voltage regulator. Is this true? I will also have to find out where that wire is supposed to go to. If anyone knows please pass on the information. thanks, Andy
