A bang bang bang

when turning, the rear of the car makes a hollow bang sound. i thought it was the exhaust hangers that fell off but i replaced them and it is still there.

it is only when youre driving at a decent speed, not at stop signs, more like pretty aggressive on-ramps and the like.

the car in question is a 79 240d, 139k on it. im thinking its sway bar bushings? the noise is not concentrated to either side, happens on both sides but is worse on the drivers side than the other.

i'm fixing to go out and play with the tools some, but wanted to get a heads-up first!

im not any kind of expert on car part identification...

it is the part that connects the sway bar to the front side of the big metal chunk near the brake backing plate.

it has come completly off and seems to be flailing and cleaning off little spots on the back of the wheel=) it looks like a little wrench but with two round ends, is this the sway bar bushing?

does the dealer usually have them in stock and/or will they want my first born instead of the 10 bux each that ******** says is retail price?

Some very good articles have been written about this stuff... with pictures.....in the archives....

Also, you should send for the paper catalog from Performance Products... the exploded line drawings are great for part identification and nomenclature.
