I just got out of work and went to turn on my engine when i noticed that none of the diagnostic lights came on when my key was in position. They always do! The fuse is good (I beleive fuse 13), and the high beam lights and parking brake lights still come on when being used. But brake pad sensor light, battery light (which has been flashing at me quite regularly during driving because of a problem i still have to figure out with my alternator im assuming), saftey belt light and glow plug light wont come on when they normally always do. What is wrong here? Could the bulb have died?

Also, anyone know the appropriate torque for replacing the bolts on the transmission pan of an 82 300 sd. i finally got access to a torque wrench adn a place to do this so i wanted to take care it soon.

I'm betting on an alternator problem, or maybe a voltage regulator. These are the same symptoms I had when the alternator died. Had to replace it twice. If you change the alternator, it is a good idea to have the battery charged, before restarting, which will lessen the strain on the rebuilt one.

Tranny pan bolts torque @ 7 Nm/ 5 ft.lbs.
Tranny drain @ 14 Nm/ 10 ft. lbs.
Filter bolts @ 7 Nm
Torque conv. drain @ 15Nm/11 ft.lbs.
