Unhappy Help 300D West Palm Beach,FL

Hello, I am new to MB. I bought a 1984 300 D for too much money, I think, I need a good MB mech in west palm, The one and only dealer is too busy and expensive to care about a 21 year old car. I found this shop, I can't name names I guess, but after $850.00 my car is in worst shape, he fixed the AC, now no center console lights at night, he fixed the vacum, now door locks,& gas tank cover lasts about 20 minutes, at best. changed glow plugs, glow prelight light comes on about 3 in 10 starts. perfomance is really bad, I have to shift the auto into 1st to get across a street, not the usual MB slow start much worst. and my gas mileage is down, also now at 65 mph, I am running about 3100 rpm. Anyone in this area of FL know a GOOD MB mechanic? Any help will be greatly appreciated, Thank You,
PC

You can't name names?? Why not?? You want the rest of us to get hosed by some idiot?? Not that you did I'm just saying. If you found someone that is not good then by all means let us know who it is.

Anyway if your going to use an indy or for heavens sake a dealer for all your problems you may as well sell that car and buy a brand new Mercedes because your going to spend the money anyway.

For performance issues the first place to look is timing chain, valve lash and fuel delivery.
I posted some links here:

As for the fuel delivery get the injectors pop tested or learn to clean them yourself.

Thanks

Thanks for the info, sounds like everything this guy did is a root cause of my problems, I am going to try to give him a chance to make it right, I don't think that will work, but it's worth a shot. They adjusted my valves, "Repaired" vacum leaks, actually I think they just caused them(leaks).Adjusted my tranny, and it shifts like crap, and so on.... I work on my american GM & ford stuff all the time, I guess I am a little intimidated by the MB, it's a lot different and I have a lack of service mamuals, I need to find a good one, not a chilton or haynes manual. The owner of the shop was out of town when I brought my car there, the "kid" he left running the place might have been the problem, so to be fair, I am going to talk to the owner and see what he will do. This forum is a wealth of info, Thanks everyone.
