Few questions on a 81 300sd

I got a 81 300sd for $300 and just need a little info please. The tranny slips and i think that it's a vacuum leak because the white 3-way conectors are shot so i need those and the ac blows air but not cold air. The clear coat is shot and a few minor rust spots needs new brakes, turn signals don't work and seat adjustment levers not working. Now, what am i looking at as far as cost to get this thing back in shape any info or comments would be helpful. btw the best $300 i ever spent.

Hmmm...... a few questions, eh?

Let's start with the drivability questions and if you do a search, you more than likely will find answers to the others. Cost???? If I had it in front of me, that would be a question of all questions. If you can do a lot of DIY, plan on a to-do list. Bought mine for $1500 and 2 yrs. and $800 later, I'm still to-doin' and the end is not near.

Tranny slip is probably not vacuum. Vacuum is used more to smooth the shifting. Fluid level is critical and bowden cable adjustment will also affect it. Have you done any fluid servicing? That would be one of the best places to start. Note the conditions of all of the fluids as you do them.

Turn signals may be a fuse or flasher relay. Do you have any kind of manual? Haynes prints one for the Diesel 123 Series, which is a good start. Many of the systems are identical to the 126 series. Service manuals on CD even better. Don't waste your money on Chiltons. They haven't had a manual worth anything since gasoline cars went to solid state ignition. Best of all hang out here and do searches.
