Fuel line question

I don't know if this has been asked else where or if it is a common problem, but my '83 300d has a couple of fuel lines in it commecting to the secondary filter that "look" like they were replaced with clear plastic tubing. The kind of tubing that is commonly used for lawn mower gas tanks. Is this normal? Or were these sections replaced my some who should not have been working on this car? I'm replacing the fuel return lines from the injectors and would like to make sure that there are no other potential surprises in this area. What would be best to replace these lines?

The original lines were clear plastic. MB does not sell just the hose. They sell the assemblies with the fittings attached.

The hoses are sold with the metal parts already installed. Like the banjo fittings. And the lift pump to secondary filter line has a compression fitting and nut.
