I had the injectors checked they are good two are ok. there is still a knock. It is running rough and I diconnected each fuel line to see if the knock when away. It didn't the knock gets louder as you speed up the motor. oil pressure is fine. it had been running fine untill this. one day it just died and would not start back up the MB shop put in new glow plugs and now it have a knock. there is some white smoke going from the oil fill hole when you remove the cap it will keep kicking out smoke as long a the motor is running and it puts out alot of black smoke from the tail pipe. Did it jump time? will it even run if it jumps time? from what I can see the chain looks fine it has about 220,000 mile on it. can I run it at idle with the valve cover off to see what I can or will that break something? I have been told it could be rod bearings. I don't see any metal in the oil. also told it could be a bad injector. also how do you do a compression test on a deisel since there is no spark plug hole? do you remove the injector? and what should the compression be? could it be a bad valve or spring the noise is pretty loud. I am just out of ideas and may be lokking for a motor even though I hope I don't have to.

of questions. compression is through the injector holes. since it ran fine before they changed the glow plugs....it is a long shot but perhaps they broke one off getting it out and the end fell into the combustion chamber and bent a rod. i had this happen on a 6.2 chebby once. it will knock and shake with a bent rod. very loud too.

I think its a bad prechamber. Someone responded to this before. Have a shop check to see if your prechamber are cracked or broken.

This could cause this noise.
