300sd question
ok so in looking for a good diesel mercedes to buy i was speaking to a mechanic who told me that the 1979 and 1980 300sd is one of the worst to buy because they apparently made significant changes in 1981 and the earlier years are very hard to come by for parts. is there any truth to this and if so why do i see so many for sale? thanks for any help.

There are many big differences between the W116 and W126 body models. My preference is with the W126, but I'm sure Mr. 10K will chime in shortly with his views of the W116.

the only
real weak point that i am aware of is that the 116s are a lot more rust prone.
