Simple tidbits of knowledge to share . . .

There was a post a while back that explained how to make the hood on a w123 go verticle. I called myself reading the owners manual and do not remember any mention of this. Had someone not shared this simple bit of knowledge, my back would have been screaming at me by now from working under a low hood (not to mention how many times I would have banged my head).

Anyone else have any tidbits of knowledge like this that you want to share?

Here is a Good Start . . .

If you haven't already visited this thread http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=86871
it is well worth doing so. From it, you will also find other threads providing even more info. Additionally, there was another thread that reached a large size with tips. I visit these frequently. Hope this helps . . .

vertical

My hood happily goes vertical these days; the right spring hinge is sprung, so it's just a matter of lifting the one catch on the other side. Hard part is definitely getting it to STAY vertical. I think all the less fortunate have to do is lift the hood, ease back just a hair, and then at the hinge on the left pull out on the tab that keeps it from going higher.

Thanks for the link. I have visited this link and it is very good, but it is for larger detailed jobs. My thought here was for simplistic stuff that one may think, "Well everybody knows this." Some of us new to MB and Diesels may not know.

Though I don't have the time right now, later I'll try to find the thread where the simple/share your ideas is and provide you the link. Hopefully, someone on-line during the day will know where it is and provide it. I seem to remember it was a heck of a good collection.

Through experience I have found that the easiest way to get the hood on ANY car to stand up straight is simply forget to latch it. Works every time. This method also affords you the oppotrunity to practice your paint and body work and windshield installation skills. Not to mention anger management.

Also saves brake pads, but messes up the seat cushions
