I say we break him, because it's fun! If he's breaking those W126's Euro wheel covers though, then I wouldn't mind that.

That's why I created the thread. Make me queasy and enraged. LOL Some tweak putting such a pointless eBay ad, can't even tell what specifically he is selling. Name a part, name a price. Useless

How You Say It? Caviat Emptor

'Would you be paying for these parts with "Pay Pal" , which is owned by "E-BAY?
You would have NO RECOURSE in the event of a problem.

First of all break means "tear down" not literally BREAK! Just in case someone wasn't in tune with the meaning, its a British thing mostly. And scrap dealers here in the US refer to breakage as the junk that is swept up into scrap heaps and some of which gets sent to China/Taiwan for salvage.

I see this kind of auction technique from time to time.
What it is is an open advertisement, eBay doesn't charge much for selling a item under one dollar you see. What they do is accept emails from people who are interested in parts off the car, then they sell them in a new auction (or if they are inclined they sell direct, and I believe eBay sends out spies to try and catch people who sell out of their auction program like that, presumably to give them the boot!)
This kind of auction has its merits, this way they only have to remove what someone wants to buy.
FWIW I sent the seller a note asking if he could ship the engine and transmission over to the states. Lets see what he says!

If you use a credit card to pay Pay Pal you can, if need be, ask the CC company to do a chargeback (get a refund of your payment) - I did that once. Hated the circumstances but had to do it because of a bad seller. Pay Pal then credited me.

I know he meant just disassembling it, but still, it runs and drives, and looks fine, and its only a 97! He has issues if he wants to tear apart a nice car like that. Maybe he's looking for someone who doesn't want it to die and will offer a bunch of money to save it.....

Could always just say "I am in need of a E300 chassis, engine, tranny, and all other parts so I can fix my completely totalled car......" I wonder what he'd say

Hi

This guy has been breaking Mercs for parts for years now probably longer than ebay and has a good reputation.
The choice to break this car for parts would be purely economical it is probably rusting badly and worth (if in good condition £5000 Sterling), if in poorer condition it would be difficult even to get a dog to bark at it never mind sell it and would be worth less. These diesels are plentiful in Ireland and so would break into good money i suspect.

Just my thoughts,

McCool300TD

Maybe the car has been wrecked. Looks like the rear glass is laying in a heap beside the rear of the car. Plus you can only see the one side. The passenger side may be smashed.

Auctions of this sort are fine and I think it works great for buyer and seller. You know how much time/expense is involved in tearing off each part and then listing them? Some parts wouldn't be worth the trouble but now we can purchase those little nickel/dime things that otherwise wouldn't be listed if sold individually.Wish it was a 123!

In Britain the hood of the car is the roof and the trunk I believe is called the deck lid. Took me a while to figure out how to order from a British catalog. "Tick" means check such as in checking a box next to an item you would like to order. Just the Kings English.

Cheers or Cheerio,

Bill

there may be no title or something that would make it unroadworthy. I suspect things are more strict as to retitling a car that has damage.
The trunk is called a boot isn't it?
