WTF do we have here?

Things you notice when ya got it all torn down!

AC accidentally got killed, so out it was ripped....

But look at the two arrows, especially the upper green arrow where the casting is fractured, thats my power steering bracket, right?

http://burndup.kicks-ass.net/images/mbz/DSC00498wtf800.JPG

I've got some sort of an oil leak down there, not sure if its just a leaky PS pump, or could it posibly be engine oil leaking out of those open bolt holes? (see below for the link to my picture pages, theres one of the radiator out, the lighting is bad, but you can just see the oil spray pattern on the bottom of the radiator...? )

Now that lower green arrow, thats a missing bolt for the cradle that goes around the crank pulley for the purpose of holding an engine shock absorber of some sort that I'm apparantly missing? See:

http://burndup.kicks-ass.net/images/mbz/DSC00495shock640.JPG

So, ya think I'm leaking outta those bolt holes?

Do I need this shock? If not I wanna ditch the cradle...

Is the PS bracket really cast? Is that whats cracked there? Will it fly apart any further if left alone? Personally, I'd be glad to ditch the PS pump, power steering on little cars like this is for is for girlies! j/k

http://burndup.kicks-ass.net/w115.html for more pics of the ongoing water pump swap...

Thanks!
Jason

Try this, as your DNS behind your corporate firewall might be "stale," as I'm serving this on a box at home over DSL, and the ip address DEFINATELY changed because of yesterdays LA-wide power outage!

replace "burndup.kicks-ass.net" with "66.245.215.80" ...that'll be the ip for a little while at least.

Burndup:

I removed the a/c compressor from my '83 euro 240D and the next day noticed a new oil leak. I put the old bolts back into the holes left when I removed the compressor, and the leak stopped!

I don't remember which one, or if all of them leaked, but trial and error should answer that one for you.

Good Luck

Thanks, but the ones in question are "engine shock saddle" and power steering bracket bolts...

???

Oh, and sometime today when I was in here playing on the computer, the "scrap metal beaner" came by and stole my AC compressor and frankenstein bracket... No, they werent locked up, and no, I didnt REALLY need them, and NO, that wasnt politically correct, better I call him names now than catch him in the act then... That compressor has resale value with the lowrider/airbag crowd...

Anybody who steals **** is a RAT, regardless of where they came from...

I hope the bastard drops it on his toe. Time to go pick up my new wp...
