Flushing the coolant on a 1982 300D
Is there a post somewhere on this forum that gives step-by-step instructions on how to fluch the coolant on a 1982 300D?
I was looking at the back of one of those plastic Prestone flush kits, and I'm not to crazy about cutting my coolant lines to put in their "T" fitting. How do you guys flush the coolant in your engine and then refill with new coolant? Thanks, Pete. |

Check Diesel Giant's website.
I open the block and radiator drains. If what comes out is fairly clean, and so far it's been clean, I get plain water to about 80*C and drain. After a couple of rinses I fill with coolant. The block drain halfway up the block is a PITA to get to on the in-line engines. Much nicer on the V8s that have them at the bottom. Sixto 87 300SDL |

do a search for citric acid flush, most of these cars can use it due to their age...

Zerex G-05 is supposedly the equivalent of MB label coolant. Looks and smells the same.

How many gallons of coolant go into a 1982 300D at say a 55/45 or 60/40 ratio of coolant to water?
Thanks, Pete. |
