Diesel $3.40 and Regular $2.53 /gal. ...

... here in Indianapolis, what's going on? Got to admit, I have started to open my eyes for any affordable Sentras, Corollas or Civics .

Open your eyes to the affordable world of alternative fuel.

The same stuff that makes the greasy food that makes Americans obese is the same stuff that can power your auto-car for pennies a gallon.

it really irks me because gasoline is more expensive to refin and diesel and gasoline are made at the same crude. they are just at different levels in the superboilers, same with lp and kerosene and all the others. least that is what i've been told. so why the big price difference. is big oil trying to stick it to the trucking industry and ecomomy minded diesel owners? i hope not.

Supply and demand, my man! In other words, bend over for Exxon, BP, Shell and all the rest

Very true, if you want to know who to blame, look no further than China. They're the ones who have been industrializing like mad, and building their conflabbed infrastructure like there is no tomorrow.

since most people use gasolene they would rather manipulate heating fuel and diesel prices to line corporate pockets....there is no shortage of crude....this a manufactured shortage...

there is more diesel ina barrel than gasolene...diesel should be cheaper...so they shift production to gas and cut it short on diesel and heating oil...creating a false shortage to jack up prices....knowing far more people would raise hell if it was those prices that were jacked up...

China effects the price of crude yes....but not the artificially high price of diesel adn heating oil.

I drove through Skyline Drive from the Washington, D.C. area today (about 250 miles) and saw some Regular prices as low as $2.469, but the lowest I saw diesel was $2.99 and one place had it for $3.409.

What gives????

Reg unleaded is down to 2.259, while #2 has gone up to 3.029 here. The main problem this time of year is that the need to raise inventories of heating oil for the NE quarter of the nation puts pressure on this segment of the refined production. Really does not matter what it costs to produce, the price has gone up as the demand for distillate causes the supply to get tight, especially with several refineries on the Gulf coast still down!!
